The Middle East Falconry Archive is a growing digital project that brings together an exceptional collection of Arabic treatises on falconry, offering a window into how people in the medieval and early modern Arab world thought about nature, animals, and the transmission of knowledge. As Head of Public Outreach and Education, I looked for ways to bring these ancient objects and the texts they contain into our modern world.

My work focused on creating openings for people to connect with these materials on their own terms, not as distant relics but as part of a living tradition. These early writings still speak to questions we ask today—about identity, expertise, cultural memory, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. For me, making these materials accessible and engaging beyond academic circles means making them breathe again—giving it the chance to surprise, to speak, and to matter now.
